What an incredible honour. 💜
I’m deeply grateful to have been recognised as a Highly Commended Recipient for Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2026 Multicultural Queensland Awards.
Standing on that stage and receiving this recognition from Minister Fiona Simpson MP, Minister for Multiculturalism, was a very special moment- but looking through these photos afterwards reminds me that this journey has never been mine alone.
Through Dovetail Social, I’ve had the opportunity to share my Filipino heritage through food, advocate for inclusive and coeliac-friendly dining, build a small business in Queensland, and create employment and opportunities for young people from multicultural backgrounds.
Entrepreneurship for me has also always gone hand in hand with community service. As President of the Queensland Filipino Excellence Awards Inc.- QFEA, I’m privileged to work alongside people who share a commitment to recognising achievement, strengthening our community and creating opportunities for future generations.
My sincere thanks to the Queensland Government, Premier David Crisafulli MP and Multicultural Affairs Queensland for recognising the contributions being made across our multicultural communities.
And to my family, our Dovetail team, our customers, my QFEA colleagues, friends, the Filipino community and the wider community- thank you for your support, encouragement and for being part of this journey. I’m very grateful to share this recognition with all of you.

And this little mention made us especially happy:

For a small, family-run café, recognition like this means so much.
Dovetail Social began with a very simple but personal vision - to create a beautiful gluten-free High Tea where people with coeliac disease could enjoy the same experience as everyone else, without compromise. To see our High Tea recognised in this way years later makes this one particularly special.

A proud moment for Dovetail 💜🇵🇭🇦🇺
We’re delighted to share that our founder, director and pâtissier, Rejoice Guevara Thomson, has been recognised by Global Success Stories as one of The Global Filipino Entrepreneur 100 – OFW Edition, celebrating Filipino founders and entrepreneurs around the world.
The Dovetail story began more than 12 years ago, built by Rejoice and Adam as a family business. Years later came Dovetail Social- born from Rejoice’s very personal vision of creating a beautiful gluten-free high tea where people with coeliac disease could enjoy the same complete experience as everyone else, without compromise.
With coeliac disease in their own family, this became more than a menu offering. It helped shape what Dovetail Social is today- a place where coeliac-safe dining, Rejoice’s love of patisserie, and the flavours and heritage of her Filipino upbringing all come together.
From our signature gluten-free donuts and brunch dishes to our Filipino-inspired high teas, so much of what Dovetail has become has grown from that original vision.
Rejoice shares that she gives all glory to God for His favour, His blessings and for the doors He has opened throughout this journey. 🙏

Public Transport:
1. Bus: From the city center, you can catch the 196 or 199 bus from Adelaide Street Stop 40 (near Queen Street Mall) towards West End. Get off at the stop on Dornoch Terrace near Laura Street. Walk a short distance to reach Laura Street.
Driving/Parking:
1. From the city center, head southwest on William Jolly Bridge and take the exit toward Gladstone Road.
2. Continue onto Gladstone Road and then turn right onto Dornoch Terrace.
3. Take the first left onto Laura Street.
4. There is limited street parking available on Laura Street, so it's recommended to arrive early or consider alternative parking options nearby.
