Well, we've been very quiet on Facebook! But we've been very busy behind the scenes delivering pecans ๐ Thank you all for your orders and we hope you are enjoying plenty of pecan deliciousness ๐
As you can see, the orchard is still in full hibernation mode and we're still getting some very cold nights out here, which the trees thrive on! But those first green buds of spring are just around the corner... ๐ณNext harvest = April 2023 ๐

We are absolutely loving these nut harvesters from Nut Solutions Australia. They pick up the nuts, but not the debris and are so light and easy to manoeuvre...perfect for our kids who now have no excuse not to help with harvest ๐ If you harvest nuts on a small scale, these rollers are well worth checking out ๐

Looking at the sky this morning and finding it hard to believe everything it was throwing down on us this time last week. Our hearts go out to those affected by the floods - families, businesses, farms. Sending strength and support for the road ahead and wishing everyone sunnier skies โค๏ธ

Ohhhhh rain...one minute we're desperate for you to fall, and the next, we just want you to stop๐คช We hope everyone is staying safe in this wild and destructive weather โค๏ธ We have had MASSIVE rainfall in the orchard over the last 24 hours, and still going. This downpouring, along with consistently cloudy weather and humidity, can stress the trees and cause crop loss...so we're keeping our fingers crossed that the pecans hang on in there ๐ค๐ค On the bright side though, the soil in the orchard drains beautifully and some sunny days are forecast soon โ๏ธ... here's hoping!

What a difference 3 weeks make! The first pic is one I posted in January showing the pecan in its "water stage" of growth. The second pic shows how that liquid has now solidified and the pecan kernel has really started to fill out ๐คฉ
P.S. the yellow stains in the second pic come from the sap in the outer green shuck. I learnt the hard way that this sap leaves a virtually-impossible-to-remove black stain on your skin ๐ณ๐
