/// SUNDAY

Road trip south tomorrow with another jaunt down to Cleveland Showgrounds where we rejoin Redlands Touch.

This time it's their annual Arthur Davis Memorial Trophy tournament, with games starting at 7am and running all the way through to 7:30pm.

That's one long day. One might say, one that's impossible to survive without coffee. And one would be right, although one might find that one is not enough.

We'll have enough on board for about 500 so I think we'll have one covered πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

/// SATURDAY

National Volunteer Week for 2026 is celebrated from 18th to 24th May and highlights the vital efforts of millions of Australians who give their time to build connected and resilient communities.

Volunteers make an immense different to the great work done by Guide Dogs Queensland, and we're honoured to join them all on Saturday as they are recognised at this year's Volunteers Family Fun Day.

There are multiple ways you can help Guide Dogs through volunteering, each of which provides the opportunity to discover new skills and experiences while helping to change lives. If you want to know more head to the Guide Dogs Australia website and look for the Get Involved page.

And we might just see you at the 2027 Volunteers Family Fun Day πŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί β˜• πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Always nice to be working with local organisations so we're delighted to return to the Emily Seebohm Acquatic Centre with the Australian Crawl Swimming Club.

Shots will be pouring from early for as long as they're needed, along with cold brew, frappes, matcha, and our world-famous-in-Deagon snack food range.

Has all the makings of a great morning, as you'd expect from Madmacs Coffee πŸ˜‰

🎢 🎀 Oops, I did it again 🎢 πŸ”Š

Must be channeling our inner Britney Spears this month as we c**k up our schedule two weeks running - our event first thing Thursday morning is likely to run longer than we first thought which means we'll be roughly an hour later than normal for the rest of the day.

But keep the faith (thanks Jon), we will be there πŸ™πŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ»

Where's Madmacs?

If we operated a DEFCON system around here this week would totally be a DEFCON YELLOW.

OK, so yellow - when I remember to change the font colour, which is not often - indicates the extra events we have for the week, so in business terms (and in terms of doing what we love doing) yellow is known as a Good Thing.

Our yellow starts on Tuesday with a drop-on to Sacred Heart School for a well-earned caffeine fix for the staff there. More yellow happens on Thursday, starting with a big breakfast for the Professional Women's Network at St Margaret's Anglican School and book-ended with the Sutton's beach Community BBQ in the evening.

And our weekend is positively overflowing with yellow; a morning at Pine Rivers Pumas Rugby followed up with another day with Australian Crawl Swimming Club at the Emily Seebohm Acquatic Centre in Bracken Ridge.

Mmmmm.... yellow.... we likey 🀩

/// SATURDAY

We have another local open home tomorrow with the team from Botwright Properties, this time at 25 Swan Street in Shorncliffe.

A residence rich in history, character and unrealised potential, quietly positioned within one of the bayside’s most tightly held streets, this is not just a property - it is an opportunity waiting to be realised. Set on a substantial 738mΒ² parcel in a prized non-waterfront pocket, this four-bedroom, two-bathroom home offers a rare chance to secure land, legacy and future upside in equal measure. Not offered to the market in nearly 30 years, opportunities of this nature are seldom seen, and tightly held for good reason.

Originally named Heather-Cote, the home was later renamed Plumridge in honour of the Plumridge family, who built the residence in 1904, with John Plumridge serving as Mayor of Sandgate in 1906. Across its 122-year history, it has been held by just three families, a quiet testament to its significance and enduring appeal. Today, the home remains largely in its original condition, with only light updates completed in the early 2000s. It has been carefully preserved, offering a rare and authentic foundation for what comes next.

Key Features...

β€’ Substantial 738mΒ² landholding in tightly held Shorncliffe pocket
β€’ Character-filled Queenslander, known as Plumridge (circa 1904)
β€’ Four bedrooms, two bathrooms across a generous footprint
β€’ Held by just three families across 122 years
β€’ Largely original condition with light updates in early 2000s
β€’ Strong bones and proportions, ready to restore or reimagine
β€’ Expansive backyard with large in-ground swimming pool
β€’ Entertaining deck overlooking the yard and pool β€’ Wide side access plus rear access via council easement
β€’ Substantial shed β€” ideal for boats, caravans or multiple vehicles
β€’ Solar system installed for improved energy efficiency

Set for auction very soon unless sold prior this is your chance to view the property with a sensationally good coffee from Madmacs. Do it. We dare you.

/// WEDNESDAY

It's caps and gowns time once again for the puppies at Guide Dogs Queensland, as the best of the best receive their honours. Not sure how they all throw their caps in the air without opposable thumbs, but I'm too busy outside pouring shots for the guests so this will have to remain a mystery.

Looking forward to another great morning with the GDQ crew, furry and otherwise.

We love this one (and so do the teachers) - Mueller College's annual Tabloid Sports Day for the youngies!

Talk about a fun day. And yet... right now it's still raining hard, but when I quizzed the school about a possible wet weather cancelation I was told not to worry as they have 'Friends in high places πŸ˜‡'

I guess they would 😏

/// SUNDAY

This weekend sees the start of a new Big Thing on Brisbane's annual events calendar with the inaugural ClearFest Community Fun Day.

Kicking off at 10am in the stunning Stradbroke Plaza at Eagle Farm Racecourse set in expansive gardens, Italian paved walkways and shaded pergolas, we can expect... actually we're not entirely sure - it's the first time! But, the organisers have promised live music, performances, vendor stalls, food trucks, and much more.

ClearFest has been setup as a fundraiser for Women's Legal Service QLD, so building on our involvement with the Epic Walk for DV this will be the second annual event where Madmacs will be supporting the critical service they provide.

This one is on all day so if you're as intrigued as we are about this Community Fun Day then come along and find out.

So good to be back with .street.inc for their community BBQ at Suttons Beach. We'll be rocking up at 6pm to catch up with all our homeless friends and those sleeping rough to make sure they're well caffeinated, and just be part of the support provided by the great community that turns up.
