The name Hokafonu holds a special significance as it originated from the King himself, Taufa 'Ahau the second. The story behind the name is truly touching, with our Great Great Grandmother craving a turtle (Fonu) while pregnant. Our Great Great Grandfather went to the Palace and asked the King for a turtle, and in return, the King said that when their baby is born, he should be named Hokafonu - symbolizing a spear through the turtle.
The legacy of Hokafonu has been carried forward by our Great Grandfather and has become a well-known surname in Tonga. In honor of our late Father, we decided to name our catering business "Hokafonu Sisters Catering." We believe that both our parents would be proud of us and we carry their memories, love, and precious moments with us every time we cook.
As two sisters who traveled from a little island in Houma, Tonga, we started this business with passion and dedication.
