All-Rounder Front of House / Barista Position

Savour Café is looking for a friendly, reliable and experienced Front of House All-Rounder / Barista to join our team.

This is a full-time position of 38 hours per week, suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy café environment, takes pride in providing warm customer service, and is confident working on the coffee machine.

About the role
As a Front of House All-Rounder / Barista, you will be involved in all areas of daily service, including:
- Greeting and serving customers
- Taking orders and using the POS system
- Running food and drinks
- Clearing and resetting tables
- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming front of house area
- Supporting smooth café service during busy periods
- Working closely with the kitchen, barista and management team
- Making coffee and other drinks when rostered on barista shifts

About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in café or restaurant service
- Confident making coffee in a busy café environment
- Comfortable being rostered on both FOH and barista shifts
- Friendly, reliable, punctual and well-presented
- Customer-focused with strong communication skills
- Able to work well under pressure
- Proactive, organised and willing to help wherever needed
- A strong team player

About the role

As Head Barista, you will play a key role in the day-to-day success of the café. You will be responsible for overseeing coffee quality, bar workflow, team support, stock awareness, equipment care, and maintaining a calm, organised and professional bar environment. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in consistency, works well under pressure, and enjoys helping others improve.

What we are looking for

You will ideally have:

- Strong previous barista experience in a busy café environment
- Confidence leading a team and setting the standard on shift
- Availability to work weekends
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong coffee knowledge, including extraction, milk texturing, and beverage consistency
- The ability to stay calm, organised, and efficient during busy periods
- A positive attitude and professional presentation
- A genuine passion for hospitality, coffee quality, and team development

Key responsibilities

- Lead the barista team during service
- Maintain high coffee and beverage standards
- Monitor espresso extraction and milk quality
- Coach and support baristas in real time
- Help manage workflow, speed, and bar organisation
- Maintain cleanliness, stock awareness, and equipment care
- Provide warm, professional customer service
- Communicate clearly with management and the wider team

To get to Merthyr Road in Brisbane, you have a few options for public transport and driving/parking:

Public Transport:
1. Bus: From the city center, you can take bus number 196 or 199 towards New Farm. Get off at the stop near Merthyr Village Shopping Centre on Merthyr Road. The Savour Cafe is located nearby.

2. CityCat Ferry: If you prefer a scenic route, you can take the CityCat ferry to the Sydney Street terminal. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to Merthyr Road where the cafe is located.

Driving/Parking:
1. From the city center, head northeast on Ann Street and continue onto Brunswick Street.
2. Turn right onto Merthyr Road.
3. There are limited street parking spaces available along Merthyr Road and surrounding streets. Be sure to check for any parking restrictions or time limits.

Alternatively, there is a paid parking lot available at Merthyr Village Shopping Centre, which is just a short walk away from the cafe.
