“When Dilly Bags Catch the Light” by First Nations artist and designer Delvene Cockatoo-Collins is a beautiful installation exploring storytelling through matrilineal lines, honouring the connection between mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and culture.
Located at Brisbane Quarter until May 10, it’s a thoughtful way to slow down, reflect, and experience the strength of culture and connection across generations.
Last year, we also had the privilege of connecting through the Osaka World Expo, where Delvene Cockatoo-Collins delivered the keynote address while our team presented and participated in panel discussions around Queensland First Nations business and culture.
A beautiful reminder that stories, knowledge, and connection continue to be shared across generations and across countries 🤍

FOODEX Japan 2026 🇯🇵
What an incredible week introducing Kulbanyi Tea and the story of Australian bush food to the Japanese market!!
We had so many inspiring conversations with chefs, buyers, researchers, and people passionate about food from all over the world.
It was exciting to see how curious people were about bush tea and its unique flavour and cultural story!
For many visitors it was their first time hearing about Australian bush food, and sharing the story behind Kulbanyi Tea made the experience even more special.

Closer to Japan 🇯🇵
We were delighted to welcome eight students from Rikkyo University for an immersive bush food workshop.
Over several hours, students explored Indigenous Australian ingredients and created their own furikake, a traditional Japanese seasoning blend typically sprinkled over rice. Using native bush foods, they developed original recipes and presented their concepts with confidence.
At one point, roles even reversed as Jacob practised Japanese with the students in preparation for FOODEX Tokyo.
Hearing that the experience shifted their perceptions of work and made it feel more inspiring and practical was especially meaningful.

Today we had the pleasure of hosting UQ students for a Bush Food Workshop on campus!
We began with a walk through the bush garden, introducing native plants and sharing their cultural significance. Students enjoyed our refreshing lemon myrtle iced tea while exploring the garden, picking leaves and experiencing the aromas firsthand.
Afterwards, we gathered over FigJam bakery treats to continue the conversation, exploring bush foods, Indigenous knowledge, and how native ingredients are finding their place in contemporary cuisine.
