Oooooo, a circle. A giant circle that’s way too heavy but still a circle. Thanks to a bit of ingenuity from me to cobble together a circle cutting jig that would do a 1600mm diameter circle, my trusty of2200 router from Festool Australia and an absolutely incredible compression bit from Boutique Woodworking Suppliers. Slabs from Hammer Roo too. Couldn’t do it without them! This jarrah dining table for Amy McKay and Patrick McKay is really taking shape. commission

Well that came up beautifully. After I’d dealt with the rollercoaster floors that Amy McKay and Patrick McKay have, this entertainment unit slotted together like a dream. Middle drawer left out so all the cables etc can be hidden. IKEA Australia Besta units with custom jarrah tops and accent timber by me and a library ladder rail from Ram Hardware Australia . now I have accurate rail measurements, I can build the custom ladder for this library/entertainment unit. Step one in this massive jarrah furniture package, pretty much done.

Just quietly, f$&k you IKEA Australia. Every single “easy peel label” has been this kind of hot mess. Whoever came up with these and put them on everything should be beaten with a stick. For eternity.

I had to know what this jarrah was going to come up like so I completely sanded and finished this piece. Safe to say I’m pretty happy. And this is just one coat, it hasn’t had the next two or the nano protection layer yet. Hopefully Patrick McKay and Amy McKay are happy too.

Well, we’re committed now. Five giant slabs are becoming correctly sized bits for four different builds for the same clients. There’s so little room for error, it’s check, check and check 7 more times before cutting.

Well, I can safely say I’ve run out of room. 😂😳 Five massive slabs of jarrah, all surfaced and now being filled with resin in the few cracks that exist in the timber before I start cutting them up into more manageable sizes for a cocktail cabinet and shelves, round dining table and accent timber for a huge Entertainment unit for the lovely .66 and It’s all go here at . I can’t wait to make these slabs smaller though, at about 100kg each, I’ve moved half a ton of timber around today. 😳🤷 ❤️

Hands down the nicest doors I’ve ever made. One slab of camphor cut down the middle and as minimal resin as I could get away with. Then mounted on classic black barn door hardware. The best thing is, these are my office doors in the workshop so I get to enjoy them every day.

Camphor laurel office doors waiting for the next coat of finish. Looking fab. These will be mounted using barn door hardware and came from a single slab so when they’re shut, they’ll be a single slab again.
