We all would have a different special memory of our first time experiencing Indooroopilly Golf Club. Lyndal Plant, past-president and member of 43 years reflects on her early moments out here and how she later came to be a member.
As an accomplished golfer, it was a training clinic that brought her to Indooroopilly, in preparation an Australian Schoolgirls tournament. Since then, Lyndal has had many other successes on course, most notably winning the Club Championship six times, in which the sixth came 35 years after her first.
It immediately became a second home for her as she moved into ‘the big smoke’ from the country. The likes of Barry Vassella and the Gunderson’s were instrumental in developing this feeling, as she found her feet at the club.

IGC President Rob Balmer tackles City 4 for us. Inviting for the longer hitters, the tee-box sits at the highest point of the golf course, overlooking a wide fairway that cambers left towards a collection of ponds. Fairway bunkers make for a tight second shot if attacking the green, as the sand and water leave little room for error.
A large, sloping green offers a variety of challenging pin locations to keep the approach feeling fresh and ever-challenging.
Are you attacking the pin or laying up here?

Join IGC Member Lyndal Plant for an afternoon roll down City 6.
Off the Red Markers it is a 396m Par 5, with several waves of fairway bunkers. There is an option to play to the left into the elbow. This allows for an easier approach shot to the green, which if attacked front on, is protected by deep bunkers and undulation.
For the longer hitters it is a great Birdie opportunity and a favourite for many.
How do you play this hole?

We mic’d up Head Professional Richard Harris to take us through a SWING program session. There’s always strong progress being made, particularly as this group was nearing the end of their term-long program earlier this year.
The sessions vary based on past golfing experience, with this session being focused on developing the essential swings required to get out on course as soon as possible. Richard works with the group to build the fundamentals of driving, honing in their irons, and establishing a confident short-game.
More information is available on our website under the Swing Program Tab.
