But as a small hole-in-the-wall, community-focused venue, we're pushing hard on the handmade pasta, the local suppliers, and the authentic.
We're not trying to be the big, upmarket, shiny venue with the million dollar fit out.... we're trying to be what we are....

LIMITED TIME AT CHERMSIDE
According to official sources (my wife).... Cheese fixes almost any problem...
Soooo, back by popular demand is this baby!
Introducing my four... five.... wait.... SIX CHEESE RISOTTO (risotto ai sei formaggi).
It's creamy, gooey, and garlicy all in the same bite, with a mix of different-aged cheddars, mozzarella, parmesan, and pecorino.
I'm only making a limited amount, and it's available until sold out. 😅

Ombra update #27
Hellooooo.
Our new POS system, menu and online ordering are sorted, so it should be even easier to grab your favourites!
Due to popular demand, I'll be running two promotions concurrently.
Thursday "Date Night", ANY two of my handmade pasta and a Garlic Pinsa for $60
Sunday "Family Night" where I'll make a special "Table Pasta" out of fresh market ingredients that will serve 3-4 people for $80. (Chermside Only)
Its reminicent of kitchen crews sitting down together and sharing a giant meal before service or a family gathering around nonnas table. This will be a very limited number.

Newstead will be closed this week while I do a few repairs and touch-ups.
Chermside however, will be rock and rolling with Dan on the pans.

🍝 Casual Cook/Chef - Ombra Italian, Newstead
Ombra Italian is our counter-service format in Newstead,
We're a small, hole-in-the-wall style venue that chill, casual and just makes damn good pasta. We're about keeping it simple, being part of the community and having a chat.
The role is primarily service based, with some set up prep like rolling pasta, fresh herbs, salads etc. And would suit a cook or chef with a little bit of experience, and a willingness to learn if needed.
Own transport, experience working with pasta or just a love for simple, Italian food is preferable, but not essential.
What the role looks like:
📍 Newstead - 40 Waterloo St
🕐 Thursday to Sunday evenings 3pm - 8.30pm (20-25ish hrs)
💰 Casual - paid above award
🚗 Personal transport preferable
There is also a salary option available for the right fit.

Helloooo Peeps.
Its that time of year again! With the changing of the seasons, we're looking to change up a few of the menu items.
First up, meet our "Gnocchi alla Rosa "
Grilled chorizo and poached chicken sauteed in a creamy tomato sugo with garlic, fresh herbs and smokey paprika.
This has been a long time favorite of a few of you, so I thought I'd actually put it on the menu and give it a chance to sine.
So if you're a fan of our current "Gnocchi Verde", get in NOW before it disappears!
Remember, we're BYO and dog-friendly!

Hello Legends!
So, quick update.
We now have our new POS system installed, and it will be up and running when we change over the new menu..... maybe on Monday.
But what this means is
1. New, easier online ordering system that properly integrates. 😅
2. You'll be able to reserve some tables at Chermside.
3. QR ordering will be an option for those who'd rather chill at the table.
4. I'll be able to send you lovely people email updates, things like open/close times, new specials, any deals that I may be running... that sort of stuff.
So thanks for your amazing support, and hopefully we'll see you for dinner.
