WE’RE HIRING – PART TIME CHEF
Retreat Cafe & Catering is searching for an experienced Part Time Chef to join our team starting immediately. The role works 2 days per week 9:30am -5:30pm Mon-Tues (flexibility with days available) at Hummingbird House, Queensland's only children's Hospice. The successful candidate will be required to work alongside another chef in a job share arrangement, however will be expected to work autonomously on a daily basis.
Skills Required:
* A demonstrated 2 year minimum experience managing a kitchen in an hospice/aged care environment.
* A demonstrated experience and high standard of communication, menu planning, organisational and stock ordering skills are essential.
* Creating a home away from home environment for families, through the provision of ‘home-cooked’ meal experiences.•
* Provide high quality, creative and nutritionally balanced lunches and dinners, accommodating any special dietary requirements including allergies and intolerances and liaise with health care professionals in regard to guest and family requirements.
* Able to handle ordering, stock control, and food cost management.
* Maintain high food quality, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
* Be reliable, organised, and have exceptional communication skills in a challenging professional environment.
* Baking knowledge is required.

The successful candidate will have obtained a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum), hold a Food Safety Supervisors Certificate and needs both:
an NDIS or Queensland disability worker screening clearance and a Blue or exemption card.
Minimum 2 years previous experience as a chef or cook in a hospice, hospital or volunteer environment (eg: meals on wheels) highly desirable.

This week’s thankful Thursday shoutout goes to the amazing team at Bakers Delight Aspley, who’ve been supporting Hummingbird House since before we even existed (physically)!
Despite changing owners over the years, this special bakery has continued to stock our pantry with freshly baked goods, making morning’s a little brighter for the families we support. We are so grateful for your generosity and support! 💜🙌
