Stokehouse Restaurants

Stokehouse Restaurants Stokehouse Restaurants, consisting of Stokehouse Q and Stokehouse St Kilda, were two popular Australian and seafood restaurants that were temporarily closed. Despite their closure, the restaurants expressed gratitude for the support they received and mentioned their intention to reopen in the future. Located on Sidon Street, Stokehouse used social media to engage with customers and advertise special events and menu items such as Oyster weather every day, a 5-course sweet-centric degustation event called 'Desserted', and a special dish featuring Southern Rock Lobster. Unfortunately, it has been permanently closed with no reason given.

A New Chapter for Stokehouse. After 36 wonderful years on St Kilda Beach, Frank & Sharon Van Haandel, alongside Hugh Van Haandel, have announced they will hand over the stewardship of Stokehouse to respected Melbourne restaurateurs Andrew McConnell and Jo McGann from October.

Since opening in 1990, Stokehouse has become an enduring part of Melbourne’s dining landscape, shaped by generations of guests, an exceptional team and a shared passion for warm hospitality.

Andrew & Jo will work alongside our leadership team over the coming months before taking the helm later this year. With enormous respect for the restaurant’s history and the people who have helped shape it, they are committed to building on its strong foundations while preserving the qualities that have made Stokehouse so well loved.
To our guests, thank you for being part of our story. Your support over the years has helped make Stokehouse what it is today, and we’re excited to see this iconic Melbourne institution continue into its next chapter.
