Great way to finish the week! Another happy customer! But this one is a special one. They’ve been with us from our humble beginnings in west Ipswich. Thank you Michelle and crew from Go Vita Redbank Plaza!
When you finish work, look at messages and a friend has seen you and taken a sneaky photo.
Life can be a little bit of a balancing act at time but I thought this photo of balancing supplies in a trolley was a great opportunity to give a shout out to another local business that always gives exceptional service.
ChrisTon Packaging have been supplying our cafes packaging needs since day one of opening. We have been rather busy this week and ran low on supplies for over the weekend. I dropped my children at school, rang the amazing Sharon while in the school car park, gave her my order and by the time I drove to them (near Costco) my order was already packed, with an extremely polite young man loading it into my car. You can’t ask for better than that.
It is such a great feeling when local small businesses can support each other. We have each other’s back💗

Disposable Cups have been the evil poster child for waste management for a while. Where possible we always recommend Reusable but sometimes, for convenience it would be nice to use a disposable cup, where the end of life is reponsible and in line with APCO's vision of recycling and composting.
The industry has innovated to ensure more responsible production and end of life. Firstly responsibly sourced, FSC certified paper ensures natural forests do not get taken down. Secondly there has been a lot of innovation in the lining that they use.
Bioplastic PLA lining allows the cups to be commercially composted so that they can be returned back to the earth to close the loop. However a lot of these cups still ended up in landfill. The rising cost of PLA is also making this option quite expensive.
Recently cups with water based lining have been introduced with allows the cup to be either recycled or composted. This is in line with Australian Packaging Covenants (APCO) aim of all packaging to be either recyclable or compostable.
