Most kids got a Nintendo. Nick got a pair of tongs.

Long before he and his dad Jimmy opened The Yiros Shop, Nick was 8 years old, standing next to Yiayia (that’s Greek for Nanna) at the family BBQ, learning the family Yiros. Not from a cookbook. From getting it wrong and doing it again until she nodded.

That’s the same Yiros on our menu today. Same recipe, same standards, slightly taller cook.

He’s still working on doing the dishes though.

Update from Eatons Hill: The signs are down, and you’d drive past without ever knowing a Taco Bell was here 🇬🇷

It's a bit surreal, that's now two American chains gone, and two of their old sites trusted to us. A family run Greek restaurant that started with one tiny shop on James St in 2015.

Yiayia never understood the drive-thru. Food you don’t sit down for? Scandalous.

But even she’d admit it: a flame-grilled Yiros passed through your car window, still warm, still wrapped properly, is a very good thing on a busy Tuesday.

So that’s what we built. Beenleigh, Berrinba, North Lakes, Morayfield, and Molendinar on the Gold Coast. Each one the first Greek drive-thru in its area, serving the same food our family has been arguing over the right way to make for generations.
